Geo + Info Project
2011
Print Design, Product Design, Web Design
The Geo + Info: DISTRIBUTION PROJECT began as a poster design that encouraged viewers to remove a portion of the poster, creatively fill in information about their environment, and then mail the piece to a distant friend. In an effort to expand the project, the original poster evolved into a postcard set specifically designed for the sharing of geographic details.

My old portfolio site: the concept was based around the idea of collecting stickers; I added more stickers to the space boy illustration as I explored more "space" as a designer. "Space" in this case being a page layout or the distance between pixels on the screen.

  • Chompin App
Chompin lets users discover, share and listen to new music. I was responsible for the interaction and visual design. To emphasize the more physical nature of Chompin and to highlight the fun of finding new, great music, I created a little robot sporting headphones and a jagged jaw. When a user presses the "Chomp" button, the robot's jaw chews for a brief moment while the track is saved to the "Chomped" tab. The rest of the interface was made clean and simple with small touches in the iconography to reflect the main robot design.

  • FHSU ArtWheel
All areas of the visual arts use color to express ideas and feelings. With this in mind I set out to create an interactive for the Fort Hays State University Department of Art and Design. The format for the interface was inspired by paper wheels and the color wheel specifically because of its direct relation to all disciplines in the visual arts. Further, color was used throughout the interface to bring interest to photos and interactive elements.

  • Semicon West App
A collaboration with Elements Design Group for Applied Materials. My role involved the visual and interaction design for the iPad app and large screen display. The iPad acted as a large remote control that sent commands to a high-powered computer which then rendered the large screen display in real time. The screens detailed various features of the Applied Materials product lineup.

Microsite designed to promote Burger King's sponsorship of the Getafe Football Club. Fans were able to join the team photo by uploading their image. Besides being part of the team, they also partook in an attempt to create the world's largest group photo. My role involved the interaction and visual design.

  • Scizors Logo and Branding
Scizors is a small post-production company who asked me to create their identity and branding. The project was a blast as the requirements involved robots, rockets and other fun logo explorations. The final logo consists of a film-chomping robot perched upon the letter i. The business card is interactive: if you follow the line extending from "motion + sound cut with care" it continues to the front of the card and outlines the robot. Those ambitious enough to cut on the dotted line are rewarded with a small paper robot.

  • 18 Questionable Songs
A CD compilation that contains only songs with titles that are in the form of a question. The CD is packaged on a printed clip board, a device commonly used when answering questions. Behind the CD are two pages containing the song names in the form a questionnaire. In this way, the song names are transformed into more than just titles as the viewer is encouraged to answer the string of questions produced by the carefully arranged questions/titles.
